The Forest of the Wild

Depart from the salle des fêtes car park at the northern end of the village.

(D/A) On leaving the car park, head towards the village of Fontaines. Quickly reach the four-way junction on the right-hand pavement. Cross the main road and head down towards Lalande. At the first crossroads, turn left and then immediately right for around 20 metres. Take the left-hand path known as Chemin Saint-Laurent or Chemin du Lavoir.

(1) Take the path leading to the wash-house. With your back to the washhouse, turn right. The path becomes semi-weeded and semi-tarmac. It runs alongside a house. At the T-junction, turn left onto the dirt track, which becomes more narrow.

(2) Cut off the road heading towards Les Varennes. Keep to the left-hand shoulder along the main road. Pass alongside the Platières property. At the edge of the wood, continue straight ahead. Leave a track on your left and a driveway on your right. You will almost reach the end of the wood.

(3) As the road bends, turn right onto a wide, slightly downhill track. Keep to this main path through the Forêt du Sauvage until you reach a road.

(4) Follow the road to the left and leave the track on the left before reaching Les Drions.

(5) Turn right and go straight across, leaving a lovely pond on your left. Go down the track at the end of this service road. At the first house, find a partially tarmacked track and keep to it to rejoin the D955.

(6) Cross carefully and turn right. Keep to the left-hand shoulder. Go straight across at the junction with Allée des Sapins and Chemin de Ronde. Return to the main village crossroads and go straight across to the car park (D/A).
