The Saint-Marc Chapel

Departure from the Champ de Foire car park in Leugny (along the Ouanne).

(D/A) Walk along the car park to exit opposite the Grande Rue into the Ruelle des Mulets. At the crossroads, opposite the road, turn left into Rue de l'Église Saint-Martin (D125 towards Chastenay). Drive alongside the cemetery.

(1)Cross the D125 and take the first turning on the right. Go up and enter the woods.

(2) Shortly afterwards, turn left. Ignore a footpath on the right and turn right onto the next one. Continue along this main route, leaving the start of the path on the right, until you reach a crossroads with a path going off at 45° to the right and a path turning at right-angles.

(3) Choose the latter, as this section is level until you reach the 2nd T-junction. At this crossroads, turn right uphill.

(4) Turn left and start to descend again until you come to a junction of 4 paths. Go straight ahead. Enter on a narrow path bordered by hedges. This descent is fairly fast (not marked on the IGN map).

(5) Shortly before the end of the descent, turn right onto a path that winds through an open garden. Stay on this path, which has steps and a handrail, until you come to the washhouse on your left (just after the path that climbs up on your left). Walk alongside it and head towards the church with the old weighing area. Go downhill on the right, cross the road and turn left for about 50m.
Take the road on the right towards Ouanne. Keep going straight up until you find a track.
Take it and go straight up through the hamlet of Chicorneau.

(6) Go straight ahead on this road for about 400m to cross 2 perpendicular paths.

(7) Turn left and go straight downhill until you reach a crossroads.

(8) Turn right and keep to this track bordered by cereal crops. Continue until you reach the first houses in Les Granges, where the road becomes tarmac. Keep to the left of the road and cross the Ouanne. Pass the Moulin des Granges on your left and reach the Chapelle Saint-Marc.

(9) Carefully cross the D950. Climb the lane opposite. It soon becomes a footpath. At the T-junction, turn left. Continue along this route, leaving the first track on your right. You will come to a crossroads of paths (the one opposite merges with the vegetation, October 2019).

(10) Turn left onto a small road.

(11) Turn left for approximately 400m. Turn left onto a wide, grassy track bordered by a hedge on your left. You will come to a road (D950).

(12) Given the layout of the site, turn right without crossing. After about fifty metres, you will come to a path perpendicular to the road.
Cross carefully and take this path. Cross the ford on the bridge. Join the cemetery.

(1) Turn right, keeping to the right-hand shoulder. At the crossroads, turn right down the road taken at the start (D/A).
