- From the street "Champ Barraté", you can see the remains of the ramparts. Go down the "raidillon des Huguenots". Turn to the left in the street "rue des Chapelains", and shortly after, in the street "rue de la Sabotée" on your right. Follow the narrow streets of the former bargemen's quarter to reach the passage du guichet.
- Turn right. Go up this quay then leave the paved area to take the towpath, below the mythical Nationale 7 and its milestones. Follow this path for 1 km to its end.
- Continue along the path (beyond the picnic area) for about 500 m until you see the entrance sign to the Loire Valley Nature Reserve (on the right of the path). Walk about 100 metres and turn left onto the path that joins the banks of the Loire. On this section, directional markers "discovery trails" and information panels guide you. Follow the main path which alternates between passages close to the Loire and magnificent panoramas and landscapes in the alluvial forest.
- You then exit onto the main path. Turn right to reach La Charité and continue until you find the towpath.
- After 100 m, a few steps will take you to the road. Cross the road by the first pedestrian crossing and turn left to take the Chemin des Trois Fontaines. At the top of this path, turn right into rue de la Violette. You will come across the Avenue du Champ du Seigneur which you must cross. To do this, go down on your right and cross at the crossroads opposite Rue du Clos. When the college is on your left, go back down the ramparts via the Pierre Barbier esplanade to the Priory.
