Historic centre and ponds of Charny

The route starts from the car park at the Pôle de Loisirs, Chemin du Bignon.

(D/A) Opposite the pond, turn right towards the toilet blocks. Take the path between the pond and the river. Keep to the left of the pond until you reach the footbridge over the overflow of the reservoir.
At the end of the footbridge, before the barrier marking the car park, turn right to reach the road at a lamppost. Turn right onto this road. The buildings on your left are the town's former abattoirs. Continue along the road and, at the fork in the road, bear right, keeping to the level track (leaving the paths leading to the meadows and pond). Reach a second fork.

(1) Go down towards the Étang des Regains and walk alongside it. It will be on your right with the Ouanne on your left. Reach the end of the lake.

(2) Take the footbridge on the left and, at the exit, the path on the right that runs alongside a fence along the meadow. At the cross path, turn right. Continue along this green ribbon with a branch of the Ouanne on your left. Go past the first footbridge to join a cross path.

(3) Cross the river branch using the footbridge on the left (the footbridge on the right leads back to the car park). Walk along the boules pitch until you reach the plane tree-lined Rue du Billoy. Turn left and you will come to a locksmith's shop on your left.

(4) Turn right over the footbridge spanning a stream. Continue along this street, with the Grange aux Dîmes on your left, followed by a small car park. Go up the opposite street, leaving the Rue Sainte-Anne behind. At the crossroads (Rue des Ponts), turn left and continue past the Auberge de Bourgogne on your right. This leads into the Grande Rue.

(5) Cross the road and take the pavement leading off to the right. Drive past the Tourist Office, then the Post Office building and, in front of the church, turn left into Rue Saint-Pierre et Saint-Paul. At the crossroads, turn right and stay on this same street, which ends in the Grande Rue. Turn left without crossing the street. Shortly after passing in front of a porte cochère, reach the sign for Chatillon-Coligny, take the pedestrian crossing and cross the Grande Rue.
Turn right up Rue de la Fontaine into the side lane. At the crossroads, use the road bridge to cross the river, keeping to the left-hand pavement.

(6) In front of the roundabout, turn left into Rue de la Gravière. Follow the road uphill until you come to a sharp bend in the road leading to Les Boulats Blancs. Continue along this road and, at the junction with the road leading to Le Mouton on the left, turn right onto a track.

(7) Take this down to the housing estate. At the entrance, turn left onto a level track. Continue until you come to a tree-lined driveway on the right, just before the Clos property. At the junction with Rue de la Gravière, turn left and keep to the left-hand pavement.

(6) Carefully cross this crossroads, which is located between two bends, first going slightly up Rue de la Fontaine (D16) and then crossing this road by the pedestrian crossing. When you reach the pavement, turn left to join the Pôle de Loisirs (D/A).
