La Branchoise

"La Branchoise" is a charmingly renovated house dating from 1830, situated on your host's property. It has a courtyard and 2000m2 of land. It is located in one of the oldest properties in the village of Branches, built entirely of stone, with a Burgundy tile roof and 2 vaulted cellars. The charm of the place will enchant you. The advantage of coming to our gîte is that it is close to Auxerre, Joigny, Sens, Pontigny, Tonnerre, Puisaye and Chablisien.
Branches is a French commune located in the department of Yonne, in the region Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.

Branches is part of the Auxerre agglomeration, it is a member of the Communauté de l'Auxerrois. The commune is home to the Auxerre - Branches airport, which is managed by the Yonne Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Branches is known for the medieval frescoes in its church.

The Church of Saint Martin de Branches dates from the 12th century. This monument has undergone various periods of history and has therefore been destroyed and rebuilt several times.

In 1939, the whitewash on the interior walls began to flake off, which led to the discovery of wall paintings in ochre tones. These exceptional paintings date from the 12th and 15th centuries. The church is open every year during the Heritage Days.

The commune has an important forestry heritage of about 100 hectares.
The communal paths are maintained between the various plots of woodland.

We also have a goat farm with a shop offering farm products made from goat cheese.

A vending machine for bread and pastries is available next to the Mairie.
