A group of students from EMA fructidor have spent several afternoons at LaPéniche since the start of the 2023-2024 season, taking part in research workshops with teachers from their course and with support from our sound and lighting technicians.
Restitution open to the public.
Come and discover an immersive visual and sound installation in your transformed LaPéniche venue. We ourselves don't know what will happen there...
The Pitch :
Restitution of the research and creation workshop "What am I doing here?
(led by Davide Bertocchi, Charlie Hamish Jeffery, Alexis Guillier).
What happens if we move the work out of its 'usual' presentation and exhibition spaces? What happens if we use a hall, its stage and its pit for purposes other than presenting a show? What happens if we transpose the temporal dimension of the performance into an art exhibition? If we give ourselves time rather than space?
Today, everything is public, performative, played, live, in real time, recorded, for everyone, for someone, for no one. How can we escape the performative?
How can we carry out possible actions, gestures, fabrications and modes of exhibition without causing these things to become theatrical or performative?
What happens when sculptures and paintings are put on stage to be performed, or put in the public eye to be looked at, or placed in spaces that are not traditionally accessible to the public eye?
What happens when bodies and objects say to each other, "What are we doing here?" "What am I doing here?" This is the question that every artist asks themselves at one time or another.
What can we do here, now?
