For a long time now, the Woodcutter has been living in seclusion in a desert of cut logs. His only companions are a hen and a tree, the last one in the country, which houses his memories and his late mother.
One fine day, a cheeky child, "all strange and not normal", arrives: she demands that the woodcutter cut down his tree to make the wooden corset that will enable him to survive...
Should they save the last tree or the little girl?
Joyously, furiously, the two protagonists tell their stories to convince each other: in the midst of moving tree branches, accompanied by a Presence - an enigmatic figure who interprets the characters summoned by one or the other - they invoke the past or invented stories to plead their case.
Ages 8 and up.
