You're a child, you're an adult. The difference: a journey. You take modelling clay, you take clay and you model. Are we more prescient (having an intuitive knowledge of the future) in one case or the other? In both cases, I didn't want to let myself act. I've always wondered about the movements of the world, a world in which I took part and in which I didn't want to get totally caught up in its social, intellectual or cultural turbulence. That's why I wanted to manipulate words and images. To tell stories, using metonymy as a vehicle towards the unconscious and the very human and very concrete realities of the world. To paint on silk paper-something of oneself, on watercolour paper that drinks in colour, the source of life. Smell linseed oil, Venetian turpentine balsam... mixed perfumes. The caresses of paper drying on its thread, swaying slightly in the air of time: a sensual approach? Both ethereal and anchored in the moment, preparing the story to come.
Once dry, these moments of colour will be cut out with scissors, torn apart - chance must take its place in the creative process; then comes the construction of the space on the canvas that will host the INSTANT; the capture of the moment when the shapes will freeze for ONE INSTANT ONLY in the movement of life. Fragmentation is a playful necessity in which the viewer will reconstruct, or not, the journey towards a stabilised and perhaps more figurative vision.
Everything is said. Life expresses itself. The movement of life in all its forms-tumultuous, calm and serene. My painting is a reflection of the very real and abominable spectacle of the world, as much as it is a vision of its positive version.
