A whole weekend of retro fun, activities and vintage entertainment!
It all started with two friends, Julien and Jérémy, travelling by moped from Luzy to the Dune du Pilat. A journey full of pitfalls, breakdowns, surprising encounters and discoveries gave birth to the idea of organising a federative, intergenerational, solidarity-based festival (free except for concerts) rooted in the Morvan region around the moped and Rock'n'Roll music.
Launched in 2014 in Luzy, in the Nièvre region, this event has a vintage theme, with the aim of reviving the context of the 1950s to 1980s, music, 2 or 4-wheeled vehicles, fashion, design, dance...
After 5 editions and several festive events, the Rockabylette Festival has become a not-to-be-missed event in Burgundy-Franche-Comté, welcoming 25,000 people at its last edition. Its ambition is to offer an original cultural project, a cross between the rural world and a modern festival.
Developing contemporary music and street arts:
The main aim of the festival is to promote access to culture. As a result, RockaBylette's cultural offering has grown year on year. The artistic performances are diverse and varied (concerts, burlesque shows, pin-ups, street shows for the general public) and the programme is becoming more and more extensive. Our aim is to give as many people as possible access to a high-quality artistic programme.
Promoting the festival :
The Rockabylette, by promoting and animating the town of Luzy, contributes to the influence of the region. Several events are planned to enable festival-goers to discover the area surrounding the festival site. The Sunday morning drive, for owners of vintage vehicles, is designed to introduce participants to our local heritage and the picturesque back roads of the southern Morvan, and to liven up the market towns with vintage vehicles passing through several villages in the canton. It's part of the festival that we bring to the villages to meet the people.
A festival that creates social links:
The Rockabylette festival conveys the values of living together in the sense that the programme on offer and the 'public' who attend are truly diverse and varied. Vintage music brings people together and creates an event that brings together an intergenerational audience.
