Mozart's open-air opera sung in Italian.
Don Giovanni ignores the warnings of his quick-witted servant Leporello and meets his match in Donna Anna (American soprano, Christine Buras - Fiordiligi in last year's Cosi Fan Tutte) who swears revenge on him after killing his father the Commendatore. In pursuit, his abandoned wife hesitates between ripping out his heart and saving him from eternal damnation.
The opera is conducted at the piano by Ben Woodward, Artistic Director of the Regents Opera.
Regents Opera is an opera company and self-producer, specialising in the great works of the 19th and 20th centuries. It offers emerging and established professional singers the opportunity to perform major repertoire in the countryside across the UK and in châteaux in France. They also perform in London venues including St John's Smith Square. They have currently completed three quarters of Wagner's Ring Cycle, which was performed at Covent Garden's Freemasons' Hall. It will be performed in its entirety in February 2025 at London's York Hall. In addition to Wagner's Ring Cycle, recent critically acclaimed productions include Verdi's Falstaff, Simon Boccanegra and Don Carlo, Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor and Strauss's Die Fledermaus. Mozart's Don Giovanni follows the success of last year's UK and French tour of Cosi fan Tutte.
