Marché aux volailles

Every Monday morning, the fairs and markets of Louhans attract crowds of people. The
colourful poultry, next to the butter and egg market, are favourites. The vegetables also add
colour to the place Bertrand-Thibert, while the place de l'Hôtel-de-Ville offers a
variety of foods. Place Aristide-Briand, place Saint-Jean and place de l'Eglise host
various stalls, as does the Grande-Rue. The turnout is considerable, especially during
summertime, and all in attendance enjoy strolling under the tarpaulin roofs. The Louhans market
has been cited by the National Culinary Arts Council as one of France's "100
exceptional gastronomic sites".
