Val d'Ocre Photography Days, 6th edition
It's a 100% photographic proposition that weaves together performance, music, the visual arts and writing. An invitation to meet authors and their works, photos on paper.
Eight exhibitions to visit: photography by a wide range of authors, reportage, fine art photography, fiction, portraits... In the large hall of Atelier 19b, l'Oiseau à ressort brings together photographers with a wide range of styles and backgrounds, from passionate amateurs to internationally acclaimed professionals.
There will also be talks and screenings, introductory workshops in various photographic techniques, portfolio discoveries, signing sessions...
Photographers will be happy to join you to talk about their work and chat with visitors.
A sneak preview of the 6th edition:
Internationally renowned photographer Kourtney Roy will open the "Journées photographiques" by presenting her book "The Other End of the Rainbow", a fictional account of the very real disappearances of women in Alberta, Canada. The photographer captures the special atmosphere of this region while remaining true to her "palette".
Saturday screenings and lectures
"Fade to black": a talk by Jacque Denis, a specialist in world music; black is the colour of vinyl, the colour of musicians who have influenced so much music, and black and white in photography. From Billie Holiday to Beyonce, from jazzmen to rappers, and in parallel, the history of civil rights for black Americans, the conference will focus on this evolution, through the prism of the covers that adorn record sleeves, signed by photographers both recognised and unknown, all of which bear witness to this particular history, in black and white.
"Photography in motion", an interview conducted by Malek Abbou, essayist and novelist, with Michel Charles, a photographer whose career has been marked by numerous experiments, including the most complex, metacinesis or photo in motion, on which he has been working for over 30 years.
The exhibitions: Kourtney Roy will be exhibiting prints from her book, Charlotte Audoynaud will be showcasing her intimate work with the sea, Olivier Bardina will be presenting a collection of silver prints, and Lorène Berchoteau will be taking us to the seaside, to the beach, with a series of timeless shots, Xavier Lauprêtre will take us back to the good times at the 'Tous aux Angins' festival (in Puisaye), Stefan Schick will be coming from Germany to share his questions about how people live with their screens, and how they got through the Covid period, and Fred Wall'ich, a multi-disciplinary artist, will be exhibiting poetic visions in black and white.
Portfolios by other guest photographers will be presented on Saturday afternoons, and signed.
Workshops for all: silver photography, cyanotype, photography and visual art, photography and writing, at weekends and during the week.
From Friday 27 September to Sunday 6 October.
