Yves Henry and Camille Thomas take us on a journey through works by Chopin and his contemporaries.
Camille Thomas plays the legendary 1730 Feuermann Stradivarius generously made available to her by the Nippon Music Foundation and a Eugène Sartory bow acquired for her by the King Baudoin Foundation.
Born in Paris in 1988, the Franco-Belgian cellist trained in France and Germany with Marcel Bardon in Paris, and Stephan Forck, Frans Helmerson and Wolfgang-Emanuel Schmidt in Berlin, Cologne and Weimar. Even before completing her musical training, she made her debut in prestigious concert halls and was immediately invited back. The maturity of her art also enabled her to shine in several competitions. She made her international breakthrough in February 2014, when she was selected in the 'Instrumental Soloist Revelation' category at the 21st Victoires de la Musique awards. Eight months later, she was New Talent of the Year at the European Broadcasting Union Competition. She was then chosen as "Young Soloist of the Year 2016" at the C'est du Belge evening, organised jointly by RTBF and Paris Match, and in January 2018 she appeared on the prestigious Forbes "30 under 30" list.
In 2016, she released her second album, Réminiscences, on the Dolce Volta label, which won her a CHOC de Classica and an ECHO KLASSIK. In 2017, she signed an exclusive international artist contract with Deutsche Grammophon, becoming the first female cellist to sign for the prestigious label. Voice of Hope, her second DG disc with the Brussels Philharmonic and conductors Mathieu Herzog and Stéphane Denève was released in June 2020. It is the first classical music disc recorded in partnership with UNICEF, reflecting the cellist's social commitment.
Camille is a regular guest in the world's greatest concert halls and has collaborated with conductors such as Mikko Franck, Paavo Jarvi, Kent Nagano, Stéphane Denève, Alondra de la Parra, Jun Märkl, Fabien Gabel, Otto Tausk, Duncan Ward and orchestras such as the Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Camerata Salzburg, the Accademia Santa Cecilia, the Brussels Philharmonic...
