The festival welcomes the formidable Bela Quartet for the third time, and this is of course a great opportunity!
George CRUMB's Black Angels Quartet is undoubtedly one of the most moving of recent times: Black Angels is one of the most striking pieces in the 20th-century string quartet repertoire.
It is a very colourful and visual work, like a musical poem, which plays a great deal with the tradition of the string quartet, notably with quotations (such as the Jeune Fille et la Mort décrépite which appears at one point) or references to medieval music. He takes a look at this old string quartet and what it means today.
Italian Francesca VERUNELLI returns to Cluny this year, having already been noticed by the ALEPH ensemble at the fifth international forum of young composers (2008). A lot of water has passed under the bridge... It's a real pleasure to discover her latest work for string quartet, commissioned by the Quatuor Bela.
At the end of the evening, a snack will be offered to all, with the help of Serge Rippert, chef at the Hostellerie du Potin Gourmand.
