Once upon a time, there was a museum full of treasures. All of them had a story to tell...
While a museum's collections are often admired for their beauty and artistic interest, or because they bear witness to a past life or activity, the subject matter and context in which the works were created often echo many real or fictional stories linked to religion, mythology, history or literature.
The Collection, tell us a story exhibition presents original works (paintings, sculptures, etc) and lets them have their say through an immersive scenography. Listen to their stories and travel through time, dimensions and space. A wide range of stories will plunge you into the heart of the Roman Empire, its plots and power struggles. There are also stories of war and revolution. Some of the stories will take you to the shores of Haiti, while others will give you a chance to soar a little higher, thanks to the crazy saga of the hot-air balloon. For those who prefer terra firma, plunge into the world of the magic lantern, forerunner of the cinema projector. Don't worry, there's something for everyone! Novels, theatre, Greek or Buddhist myths...
Escape with the Loire Museum.
A whole host of events have been organised around the exhibition, including lectures, events, workshops for schoolchildren and guided tours for groups. You can find the full programme and all the information you need in the various sections of our website.
Finally, to make the exhibition more accessible to as many people as possible, especially families, the Musée de la Loire is offering free games, colouring and puzzles.
