The church of Saint Martin in AILLANT sur THOLON is opening its doors for a week to an exhibition on the history of the Order of Notre Dame du Mont Carmel. Nearly 200 objects, dating from the 16th century to the present day, are on display to accompany the texts and take us back in time. They reveal the anecdotes and mysteries of this Order dating back to the Old Testament.
Through the lives of these monks from Palestine, the history of France unfolds before our eyes: the Crusades, the French Revolution, the Separation of Church and State, the fight against Nazism, the Indochina War...
Visitors will also discover some portraits of Carmelites and Carmelites, such as "Petite Thérèse", who left their mark on Carmel and the spirituality of the Church.
Admission is free.
