Coproduction CNCM Saint-Nazaire, La Fonderie, Le Moulins de Paillard
Following the creation of a first Book of Madrigals (2020-2021) after Dino Campana, composer Martin Moulin has once again seized on the inexhaustible textual material of the Orphic Songs by Dino Campana (1885-1932) to create a Second Book.
In the manner of the glorious Italian madrigalists - Gesualdo, Marenzio, Monteverdi... - who, in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, gave the genre its full vein, the combinations of voices
of voices, from solo to quintet a cappella, constantly renew the listening experience. Like the multiple-voice forms of those ancient times, this Second Book, in an obviously very different style, also activates an exchange between the music that unfolds and the place that welcomes and multiplies it.
This Second Book will be presented, in France and abroad, in venues with sufficiently enveloping acoustics to allow the 5 voices to blend together, creating this dense polyphonic texture, this sonic broth born of Campana's language. Such is the case in the magnificent church of Chapaize.
This concert proposes to link this contemporary writing with historical madrigals: before plunging into Martin Moulin's Second Book of Madrigals, Monteverdi's madrigals will be performed, putting the listening experience into perspective.
