The Shamrocks have been around since 2005, originally founded around traditional Irish music. Shamrock (Seamrog) means shamrock in Irish Gaelic. A symbol of good luck among the island druids, it was later taken up by Saint Patrick and became the national emblem alongside the harp and Guinness.
The band has evolved from a duo to a trio. Initially based in Ireland, their repertoire has evolved more broadly towards the traditions of the various Celtic territories: it mainly includes songs from the Erin green, Scotland and Brittany, as well as a few dance tunes (jigs, hornpipes, reels, andros, hanter-dros). The instruments used are the tenor banjo (4-string), tin whistle (Irish metal flute), electric bass, mandolin, Union Pipes (mainly Irish bellows bagpipes), nyckelharpa (Swedish key fiddle), vocals and percussion.
The Shamrocks will take you on a journey through Celtic music, with its often joyful melodies and rhythms.
