Nature certainly has unsuspected resources! While it undoubtedly provides artists with an inexhaustible source of inspiration through its picturesque qualities (literally "paintable"), it also provides the material and tools for expression. Don't paper and canvas come from wood and linen? Aren't pigments derived from natural elements such as plants and minerals? And what about oils, gums or lacquers? With this in mind, the Musée de la Loire and the Environmental Education Department invite you to go back to the origins of art and get closer to nature.
The Musée de la Loire will show you how paper, colours and watercolours are made, while the Environmental Education Department will invite you to draw on nature itself for the materials you need to create your own art. During a walk along the water's edge, you'll be introduced to the magic of dye plants, where broom, St John's wort, chelidoin, willow, maple, alder and lichen will reveal their secrets and provide you with a wide range of vegetable inks.
It's a colourful experience that will take you from the museum to nature, and from nature to artistic creation!
