A painter whose roots are in both South Korea and the Nièvre, Choé Joo-Young set up her studio in Nevers in 2018, dividing her time between Korea and France.
Having exhibited in Paris, China, Seoul and the United States, she now concentrates her activity on running a cultural centre in Korea, as well as, of course, painting.
Inspired by the nature of the Nièvre region and the children who attend her cultural centre, she often holds exhibitions or organises workshops in her studio/gallery at 15 rue du puits du bourg in Nevers.
Her painting is deeply linked to Korean writing through traditional Korean calligraphy techniques.
