Fragment restauré d’une mosaïque Gallo-Romaine
Discovery on the "Montois" site of a polychrome and geometric Gallo-Roman mosaic, one of the largest in northern Gaul (210m²).
Several clues suggest that the Gallo-Roman "Villa" of Migennes was dedicated to Christian worship
Built during the troubled times of the barbarian invasions, this villa was nevertheless constructed with noble materials without any obvious concern for the amount of money spent. But why bother? Among the 138 different coins found on the site, there is a very large quantity of counterfeit coins. Let's bet that fervent Catholics and counterfeiters are good friends and that in addition to a church, this villa houses a clandestine counterfeit money workshop.
