A family-owned property, built by the ancestors of the Counts of Milly to protect the Abbey of Cluny, Berzé stands in a superb position overlooking the vineyards of the Solutré valley. The vines of this medieval fortress are planted in soil consisting of clay and limestone sediments containing fossilised shells, ideal for producing great white wines. The wine is made within the confines of the château, which was erected in the 13th and 14th centuries around its Carolingian chapel. It boasts thirteen towers and two keeps, including the imposing gatehouse. The château is open to the general public. Wine-tastings by appointment.
