Saint-Hippolyte Church in Bonnay is one of Burgundy’s most unusual Romanesque churches. It was probably built at the beginning of the 12th century with fortifications added in the 13th century as it was an important deanery of Cluny. The clock tower, flanked by two stone pillars, overlooks the collapsed nave, but the remaining sections still retain traces of paintings and carvings.
