Saint-Philibert Abbey, overlooking the Saône and town of Tournus, is one of the most beautiful examples of early Romanesque art. The disruption caused by the Norman Invasion explains how the abbey - which houses the relics of the saint of the same name - came to be founded in Burgundy. You’ll be dazzled by the unusual light and will marvel at the crypt and Saint-Michael’s chapel. The height of the vaulted ceilings and its large nave are extremely impressive.
