Autun’s Musée Lapidaire has some magnificent treasures on display, in a beautiful Romanesque setting. There are a variety of exhibits, ranging from the carved entrance gate to the painted apse. Admire, too, the antique and medieval mosaics, the white marble cornice or richly carved capitals. The museum, which was established in 1861 also boasts a garden. Wander around its romantic grounds amongst the steles and sarcophagi.
