Semur library, which was established in 1803 in an old Jacobin convent, boasts some extremely precious manuscripts amongst its 20,000 plus books and documents. One of the most remarkable pieces is an illuminated parchment manuscript dating back to the year 1000. You can also examine missals with richly decorated initial gold letters, the Encyclopédie de Diderot et d'Alembert and plate illustrations documenting Bonaparte’s Egypt campaign.
