The Monks' Deanery of Mazille is an old outbuilding belonging to the Benedictines of Cluny Abbey. Perched on a rocky spur, its stately buildings dominate the village center, especially the chapel which dates back to the 13th century. Like the other Cluniac deaneries, The Monks' Deanery of Mazille was a multipurpose site. Not only did it provide Cluny Abbey with the livelihoods (wine, wood, oat, wheat, rye among other things), but it was also a place where deeds could be signed and where justice gatherings could be held. The Monks' Deanery of Mazille is a private property which accepts visitors.
