Two centuries ago, Claude Chappe invented the telegraph. The instrument, installed on the top of towers, 8-10 km apart, facilitated long distance communication. The Annoux Telegraph Tower, in the forêt de la Rêpe, located along the old south-east telegraph line that linked Paris to Marseille, is open to the public. Come and visit it!
