In Mâcon, dozens of VI century sepultures were discovered under the Saint-Clément church. Archeological digs carried out between 1985 and 1993 have also unearthed the foundations and walls of other edifices. They allow us to understand how this site evolved until the XIX century. It’s the only visible merovingian funereal site in South Burgundy! It is only opened for group visits.
