To find out more about the Climats and the harvest.
The Climats de Bourgogne are still a mysterious concept for many people. So why not take advantage of the harvest period to discover what lies behind these Climats, typical of winegrowing Burgundy.
This is the key exhibition for understanding the Climats du vignoble de Bourgogne, the famous parcels of vines that have been named and precisely demarcated for centuries, and which became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015. Through a short film, a large scale model of the vineyard and a historical frieze, the Maison des Climats provides the keys to understanding how the notion of terroir has developed over 2,000 years in the Côte d'Or... and discovering all the cultural and heritage heritage that stems from it.
The originality of the exhibition lies in the fact that it is complemented by 10 digital tablets, making it easy and fun to explore from the model. Thanks to augmented reality, visitors can visualise the names of the 1247 Climats, see the appellation areas, discover the historic monuments and travel through the ages.
Another 'bonus' to explore if you have a little time to spare is the digital media library. A veritable mine of information, it provides access to short, instructive videos to help you understand the vine and wine professions, and key concepts such as the geology of the terroirs, the history of the A.O.C.s and the fabulous history of the names borne by each Climat.
Children are welcome too! A booklet of games is dedicated to them. There are riddles, puzzles and hidden words to be solved in the House.
The tour is free and takes around 30 minutes.
The content is in French and English.
