To the delight of the birds!
The Maillys ecological reserve is a place for observation, awareness and education about the environment. An educational observation trail has been set up, allowing visitors to discover the characteristic fauna and flora of the Val de Saône.
More than 170 species of birds have been observed. During the migration and wintering periods, this former aggregate extraction site is a refuge for water birds: great egret, mallard, coot, teal, scaup, gadwall, gadwall, and even whistling duck and goldeneye, for which the site is one of the best in the Côte d'Or. In the summer, the songs of the passerines in the riparian zone signal the breeding season for the very common mallard, coot and great crested grebe.
Free guided tours are offered to the public during the school holidays, on reservation at the Auxonne Tourist Office at 03 80 37 34 46, contact@capvaldesaone-tourisme.fr
The Department also offers visits for groups (associations, colleges, schools, etc.) on request at reserve.ecologique@cotedor.fr
