A village that is fond of cinema
A great number of film directors have used this picture-perfect village as the set for their films and short films. The village has been used as the set for around twenty films, including some very successful ones such as La Grande Vadrouille.
Two gems of the Renaissance nearby
Just a few kilometres from Noyers-sur-Serein, there are two gems of the Renaissance period, just waiting to be discovered.
We'll begin with the Château d’Ancy-le-Franc. It was built by the architect of King Francis I and is a beautiful monument thanks to the perfect symmetry, harmonious facades and elegant sculpted details. This is more than just a château, it is an invitation to experience the art-de-vivre of the Renaissance.
Then head towards Tanlay. This superb château bears the souvenirs of a rather eventful chapter of the history of France, the Wars of Religion. This is where Admiral Coligny would gather the leaders of the Protestants.

A closer look at the village of Montréal
This Montréal is not on the other side of the Atlantic, but just 20 km from Noyers-sur-Serein. It may have the same name (from "mons reagalis", meaning the Royal mountain), but the resemblance with the Canadian version stops there.
In Burgundy, it is not a huge city, it is in fact a pretty little medieval village. From the top, the panoramic view before you is one of the most beautiful in northern Burgundy.
