Climb, pedal, amaze, explore, taste, travel back in time... If there's one thing we never do in the Mâconnais, it's get bored! From the Rock of Solutré to Mâcon, via the vineyards of course, you'll soon see that time flies when you're visiting this region! It's time to set off for two surprising and unexpected days as a family.
Day 1
The majestic Rock of Solutré
This rock needs no introduction! Standing proudly in the midst of the Mâconnais vineyard, the Rock of Solutré is sure to leave a lasting impression. In fact, this little hill is all of this and more:
- a place for hiking,
- a favourite spot for budding young archaeologists
- a breathtaking view across the vineyard

It's time for an afternoon snack!
You won't need to search high and low if you start to feel a bit peckish in the afternoon! At the 'Grand Site de France', Solutré Pouilly Vergisson, the Café de la Roche is the ideal place to go for a tasty, fresh and local snack.
An extraordinary overnight stay

Day 2 - morning
In the shoes of a winegrower...
On this morning, you'll be strolling through the vines, admiring the scenery all around you, taking a tour of the winery and wine-tasting cellar at the Domaine Lafarge to see what it's like to be a winegrower. And all of this will be topped off with a chance to taste the estate's wines, or grape juice for the children.
Day 2 - afternoon bike ride and boat trip
Go with the flow in the Mâconnais
We recommend exploring Mâcon and the surrounding area on a bike ride, and then going on a boat trip on the river Saône. The easiest way is to follow the Greenway route which winds between Mâcon and Cluny covering around twenty kilometres and then continues towards Chalon-sur-Saône (if you'd like to ride further).
Then if you're eager to get out on the water, this is the right place to be! The Mâcon sur l'Ô leisure complex has a range of bikes, pedalos and boats that don't require a boating licence, so you're sure to find what you need!
