Since 2022, the Combattants Volontaires de la Résistance (CVR) of the Cluny-Mâcon-Chalon section have been working on a project to mark the old demarcation line, the border imposed by the enemy from 1940 to 1943. The engraved posts are located at former German checkpoints. You can find out more about local history at the information desks.
The demarcation line crossed the commune of Lux between 1940 and 1943, following the course of the river Corne.
Camille Chevalier ("Maurice" or "Bayard" for the Resistance), a garage owner from Chalonnais, a smuggler in the commune, was denounced and arrested in July 1943, imprisoned in Chalon and tried to death on 18 August 1942.
For the "Ali France" network, he carried out clandestine crossings on the Corne towards the Moulin de Droux, in particular with another smuggler André Jarrot (alias "Goujon" in the Resistance), a garage owner from Lux, living in the unoccupied zone, who was then forced to flee the region. He went to London and carried out numerous Resistance missions in France by parachute.
Camille Chevalier and André Jarrot were both named "Compagnons de la libération" by General de Gaulle.
