Since 2011, the Voluntary Resistance Fighters (CVR) of Saône-et-Loire have been working on a project to mark the former parachute drop sites of the Second World War to pay tribute to the men and women who took great risks to continue the fight against the enemy.
Near "La Breuille" in the commune of Ballore, 4 parachute drops took place on 17 September 1943, 28 April 1944, 18 August 1944 and 2 September 1944.
The identification messages broadcast on the BBC were: "she wears glasses", "she lacks courage", "I noticed her elegance", "the cows have left the meadow because of the bombs".
The totem pole was unveiled on 9 October 2016.
