The fortified church of Pichanges has been a listed monument since 1909.
In Burgundy, in order to take refuge and defend themselves, the villagers have often adapted the only important stone building in the village: their church. This is the case with this fortified church!
An explanatory panel in front of the church details the church's defensive features (stunner, corbels, turret, etc.).
This church has a double vocation, it is dedicated to Saint Laurent and Saint Marc. The stained glass windows in the choir represent them.
It has several statues, most of which have been restored thanks to the garage sales organised by the association "Les amis du vieux Pichanges".

Pichanges is also the starting point for the Bué discovery trail, a 4.8 km hiking circuit that will allow you to discover the Bué spring and its legends.

The fortified church of Pichanges has been classified as historical monument in 1909.
The church has been fortified in order to defend the village from assault. That fact was usual in Burgundy : the church is often the only strong stone building on the territory, the one which is always chosen to take refuge.
An explanatory panel in front of the church details the features of the church that were specific to this defensive mission (knocker, corbels, turret...).
