Augustodunum « soror et aemula Romae »
Founded by the sole will of the emperor Augustus, to whom it owes its name, Autun was built at the end of the 1st century BC, to accommodate the Eduans of Bibracte. "Sister and emulator of Rome" is Autun's motto. This is no exaggeration, as Augustodunum was one of the jewels in the crown of Gallo-Roman cultural and commercial life.
Your guide will bring to life the prestige of this ancient city as you visit the Gallo-Roman monuments: the Ancient Theatre, Porte Saint-André, Porte d'Arroux, the Temple of Janus and the Ramparts.
