Lawrence Weiner, a historic figure of the conceptual art generation (who has worked in many countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Italy, Mexico and, of course, France), placed one of his works on the Abbey of Corbigny in 2009.
His proposal is deployed both outside the Abbey, on its southern facade, as if to echo the foundation stone of the monument located flush with the ground on the sunset pavilion, and inside, in the monumental staircase. In both cases, it consists of a sentence written directly on the wall, in dialogue with the architecture, the territory and the viewer.
The colours used by the artist - yellow, blue and red - are as reminiscent of the flag of Burgundy as they are of the glazed roofs of the region. Thus, the work is integrated into the history and cultural heritage of the region while referring to the Abbey building, which is the bearer of a contemporary cultural project.

Open in July and August from 2pm to 6pm.
