Founded solely by the Emperor Augustus, to whom it owes its name, Autun was built at the end of the 1st century BC to accommodate the Eduans from Bibracte. "Sister and emulator of Rome" is Autun's motto. Augustodunum was one of the jewels in the crown of Gallo-Roman cultural and commercial life.
Your guide will bring to life the prestige of this ancient city as you visit the Gallo-Roman monuments: the Ancient Theatre, the Porte Saint-André, the Porte d'Arroux, the Temple of Janus and the Ramparts. You will then be taken on a tour of the incredible collection at the Museum of Natural History.
