The current building is the successor to a church with the same name, a former castral chapel located at the top of the "butte Saint-Pierre" (or Motte), damaged by lightning in 1790. The idea of building a new church closer to the town took shape from 1830 onwards, and several estimates put forward in 1842, 1858 (architect Sirodot's plan for a cement block building) and 1860 were rejected. The church was finally built between 1865 and 1867 to the plans and specifications of Schaeffer, an architect in Dijon. The walls and access ramps were built in 1871.
