There is no medieval city more fragrant than Flavigny-sur-Ozerain! The scent that runs through its streets will guide you to the heart of the old Benedictine abbey: the only place where Anis are made.
Since 1591, faithful to the same recipe, each aniseed is patiently wrapped in thin successive layers of syrup, delicately flavoured. The small family business is dedicated to perpetuating the tradition of this good candy, the oldest candy brand in France.
Three simple ingredients: a green aniseed, sugar and a natural flavour. It takes 15 days to make the little dragée, in large copper basins. There is a whole range of flavours because all tastes are in nature: aniseed, mint, violet, orange blossom, rose, liquorice, lemon, ginger, blackcurrant and mandarin. Find your favorite!
Once you've passed through the door, your eyes won't know what to look at, between the beauty of the abbey, the omnipresence of boxes and packets of sweets, and the comings and goings of the Fabrique teams. You are invited to discover the actual Anise factory and the Anise basins, the crypt of the abbey, the museum, the old workshops, our aroma laboratory, and our shop with its Anise tasting.
The Anis de Flavigny received the distinction of "Remarkable Taste Site" by the Ministries of Agriculture, Culture, Tourism and Environment in 2012, then "Living Heritage Company" in 2017.
To come to Flavigny is to discover one of the most beautiful villages in France with a unique historical heritage and located in the heart of the gentle landscapes of the Auxois, in Burgundy.
