Its rural and flowery landscapes give it elegance, charm and tranquillity. The Saône valley is crossed by numerous barges whose crews enjoy stopping at random along the rivers and locks to visit fountains and old wash houses, museums, abbeys, churches and castles, animal parks and leisure activities. Like the village of Pesmes, whose houses clinging to the rocky outcrop overlooking the Ognon combine with originality architectural styles ranging from the 12th century to the Renaissance, the small ones at La Rochère, from the fine sand of its plains. And a gastronomy which, from the Luxeuil ham to the Marnay snail, not forgetting the kirsch and griottines of Fougerolles, provides raw material and inspiration to talented cooks. The great chefs of these vineyards are also the best ambassadors of the domains of Champlitte, Charcenne, Bucey-les-Gy, Hugier, Motey-Besuche whose red, rosé and white wines, still too little known, deserve to be noticed.
