The Pierre Aiguë stands two kilometres to the east of the Vieille Montagne. This curious pile of stones is said to have been dedicated to the Virgin Mary. There's a lovely legend about the place. In the past, when the Virgin was leading Saint Barthélémy to Villapourçon, she wished to rest on a hill on the Niret. Before setting off again, she placed three small stones one on top of the other, saying: "Little stones, you will become big". When she left, the stones grew to the size they are today. In her kindness, the Virgin saved the region and its inhabitants from the misfortunes of war and the ravages caused by wolves to the flocks of sheep. Wolves, of which there were many in the region, were seen mingling with the sheep grazing under the Pierre Aiguë, as they devoured the animals in the surrounding area. Finally, the Virgin's last prediction was that the world would not come to an end as long as the Acute Stone remained in existence.
To get to the sharp stone, you can park at the entrance to the path. The stone is 20 metres further on.
