The Monts du Mâconnais, of which Mère Boitier is a part, are the result of Alpine uplift. From the summit, you can enjoy panoramic views over the Saône valley and the Revermont, then on the horizon and depending on the weather, the Jura, the enormous mass of Mont Blanc and part of the Alps. The site can be reached by road from the car park. The many connections of the "Balades Vertes" footpaths mean that there are a number of different routes to take. (TYS2 and TYS3).
La Mère Boitier: legend has it that Mère Boitier was an innkeeper who was murdered during the stagecoach era, but the place name "mure" seems to refer to a formerly populated site.
The trail "Les dessous de la Mère Boitier" ("The underside of Mère Boitier") allows you to learn more about the diversity of the flora as you walk around the massif and reach the orientation table from the south.
Mont de la Mère Boitier (758 m) Tramayes: highest point in the Mâconnais mountains. Panoramic 360° views of the Alps, Jura, Saône plain, Mâconnais, Charolais and Beaujolais mountains.
Col du Carcan (646 m): magnificent view of the Mâconnais mountains and the Petite Grosne valley.
Church and its listed 12th-century Romanesque bell tower: partly destroyed in 1793, it was rebuilt in 1848.
16th-century château: privately owned. Only the park, from which Lamartine liked to contemplate his château at Saint Point, can be visited.
Site de la Madone: statue of the Virgin Mary and panoramic view of the village.
Joseph Dufour: famous designer of panoramic wallpaper born in Tramayes.
