Situated in the mid-range mountains (from 320m to 640m), our village offers a range of regularly maintained walking routes, with shady paths leading from hamlets up to wooded ridges and across the Grosne river.
In this farming community, you'll come across different breeds of cattle and animal species in a verdant hedged landscape.
After observing our landscape, which some compare to a little Switzerland, don't forget to discover our heritage too:
- The recent village (1850-1900) dominated by our church with its Romanesque bell tower and transept, its bridges and shady square,
- To the north-east, the large hamlet of Ecussoles was the centre of a Cluny deanery (936-1790),
- To the south-east, the Colettes manor house (12th century) was acquired by the Des Brosses family in the 17th century. Claude Brosses was the first to sell Mâconnais wine at the court of Louis XIV,
- Of the 5 mills that existed in St Pierre in the 17th century, the Mathy mill and the Moulin Neuf still stand today,
- The wash-houses, with their varied architectural styles scattered throughout the hamlets, were a meeting place for the inhabitants at laundry time.
