As soon as you leave Saint-Christophe, this loop will take you through preserved rural farm buildings and sumptuous viewpoints, on a balcony overlooking the hedged farmland and the market town of Oyé, the birthplace of the Charolais breed. After discovering the chapel at Sancenay, the climb back up the ridge offers magnificent views towards Oyé and beyond. The leisurely return journey to Saint-Christophe takes in the valley of the Fontaine Saint-Martin, source of the Belaine, and Montsac, an important centre for learning about the Romanesque heritage of the Charolais and Brionnais regions.
