Discover this geological curiosity in the cool of the forest during the Indian summer.
This green walk takes you from the Chalonnais bocage to a deciduous forest where the autumn colours are flamboyant. Take advantage of this exceptional natural environment to breathe in the scents of autumn and observe the fauna and flora. The highlight of the walk is the "sea of stones", a natural sandstone chaos in the heart of the forest that will dazzle you. The landscapes of the Guye valley, which you can admire from various viewpoints, will reward your efforts.
- The route starts from the village of COLLONGE-EN-CHAROLLAIS, where parking is available near the town hall and village hall. We recommend that you make a short diversions to the church, which was restored a few years ago.
- This walk has a steep gradient, particularly at the start (uphill) and the end (downhill). We advise you to take the walk in a clockwise direction (from "Les Justices").
- You'll gradually move from meadows to a recently logged forest, where you can stop off at an old telegraph station.
- The path you follow gradually becomes narrower and stonier until you enter an unlogged forest. On this part of the route, we advise you not to leave the waymarked path if you don't want to get lost in this exceptional natural environment.
- You will wind your way through what is known locally as the Sea of Stones before returning to the village. On the way down, you'll enjoy some great views over the Guye Valley.
