Departure from the car park in Rue Hugues Cosnier (near Les Sept Écluses).
(D/A) With your back to the car park, turn right and cross the bridge over the canal. At the exit, immediately take the path down to the foot of the locks, with the canal on your left. At the foot of the locks, continue straight ahead, always following the canal. At the junction with the main road, turn right and continue along Rue André Henriat. Leave Rue Henri IV on your right and turn off at the next junction towards Breteau (Rue des Postillons).
(1) Leave the main road and turn right towards Le Cottard. Leave the next right-hand lane as a one-way street. At the next junction, turn right. Continue straight on.
(2) Leave the main road, turn right and follow the signs for La Brenellerie. In the corner on the left, hidden by vegetation, is the Calvaire de Sainte-Anne.
Continue along the road, keeping the fence on your right.
(3) At Château de la Brenellerie (on your right), the road ends in a dirt track. Continue straight ahead, leaving the water tower on your left.
150m after the water tower, continue along the main road, leaving the paths on the right and left.
(4) At the end of the large curve, climb the embankment on the left to join the Rigole de Saint-Privé and follow it as far as Le Rondeau.
At the Pont Racault junction, keep the Rigole on your left. And at the small stone bridge known as the Pont de la Parisienne.
(5) Continue to Pont du Goujat.
(6) Shortly after the pond, continue along the Rigole on your left and note the sluice. Continue along the path between the channel and Étang Neuf. Admire this ideal picnic spot between the foliage.
(7) Pass the 4th bridge, known as the Pont de la Boursicauderie, without crossing it, and continue along the Rigole. Rejoin the road, keeping the Rigole on your left and the Étang Neuf on your right.
At the Pont des Révalleries (on the left), one of the Pony Clubs is on the right; continue along the path parallel to the Rigole.
(8) When you reach the silo, you can take the alternative route from this point to the finish line during the works:
Follow the signs for Le Grand Chaloy circuit N°71 as described below:
Turn left towards the silos. In front of the Canal de Briare, turn right and go under the bridge over the D14. Continue along the towpath.
Javacière lock
Continue along the towpath. Pass through the Racault Lock, the Saint-Joseph Lock and then the Chante-Pinot Lock.
At the crossroads with the road, cross carefully then turn right without crossing the bridge. Go through the chicane to join the footpath. Walk downhill with the seven old locks on your right. Join the Rue André Henriat.
Turn left without crossing this street. After the bridge, turn left onto the canal-side path (D/A) to reach the car park.
Description before works: (do not take this into account at present)
From here, there is a superb view between the arrival of the Rigole de Saint-Privé, which feeds the canal, and the routes of the old and new canals.
Follow the old canal to the right. Before the bridge, take the path furthest to the left without crossing the bridge that joins the road (the path to the right is private).
(9) After 300m, turn right and then immediately left onto the main path.
In this wood, there are several pigeon houses on the right.
Stay on the path parallel to the old canal and leave the paths on the right (equestrian markings).
Cross the flat bridge and continue straight ahead. Just after the power line, take the path on the right.
(10) On the right-hand side of the path is a remnant of the canal: a myriametric marker.
At the end of the wood, continue straight ahead to reach the top of the historic Seven Locks monument.
Enjoy the magnificent view over the village of Rogny.
Walk down the Seven Locks site with them on your left. This site is steeped in history. Walk past the foot of the large chestnut tree and up a few dozen metres to reach the road on the right.
Cross the bridge over the Rogny Lock, then turn right to return to the car park on the left (A/D).
