Present in Burgundy since the 17th century, Aligoté is a white grape variety native to the region. It generally produces wines that should be drunk young, but some crus, particularly those from Bouzeron, will develop well with a few years' cellaring. It is also used in the Crémant de Bourgogne blend. Leaving Chagny, cycle for 17 km towards Bouzeron, sometimes on tarmac roads, sometimes on stony tracks. You'll pass through the charming wine-growing villages typical of the Côte Chalonnaise, enjoy the views over the vineyards and enhance your ride with a tasting of this confidential, delicious and delicately powerful white wine. You'll finish your tour by taking the EuroVelo6 along the Canal du Centre, a legendary route that criss-crosses Europe from East to West.
