The circuit in memory of the abolition of slavery, also known as the "departmental circuit, Saône-et-Loire - Land of abolitionists" is dedicated to the men and women who worked so hard for the abolition of slavery. A number of emblematic figures from the département fought for the abolition of slavery on their own soil and across the seas, including Pierre Moreau, Jean-Philippe Saclier, General Etienne Mayneaud de Bisefranc de Lavaux, Alphonse Marie Louis de Prat de Lamartine and Anne-Marie Jahouvey. Memorial plaques shed light on this little-known page of history in Digoin, Paray-le-Monial, Charolles, Génelard, Toulon-sur-Arroux, Autun, Montceau-les-Mines, Saint-Point, Milly-Lamartine, Cluny, Mâcon, Cormatin and Ameugny.
